The Clínica Alemana-Universidad del Desarrollo Medical School's first graduating class of doctors placed second out of the 16 universities that took the National Medical Exam [Examen Médico Nacional (EMN.)] This puts the school among Chile's medical school elites alongside the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Chile.
The Board of Directors of the Chilean - German Charity Corporation (Corporación Chileno Alemana de Beneficencia) and the Board of Directors of Clínica Alemana of Santiago "feel especially proud of the success obtained by the excellent work performed by our Educational Team including the Deans and the Faculty supplied by the Universidad del Desarrollo, Clínica Alemana and the Padre Hurtado Hospital".
They also noted that "the test results represent the fruits of the private-public partnership between Clínica Alemana and the Padre Hurtado Hospital". Both Boards of Directors "congratulated the students and all those who contributed to the initial phase of this project resulting in the graduation of the first class of medical doctors. This initial indication of our success provides the incentive to continue the effort to achieve excellence which has characterized our goal of creating one of the best medical schools in the country".

Additionally, Ernesto Forest Bafalluy, President of the Universidad del Desarrollo, declared "his great pride in the results obtained by this first class and congratulated the students for their efforts". He emphasized that the scores obtained "are reflections of the staff's determination to bring out the best in our students and of the innovative teaching methodologies employed".
The average score for all students who sat for the exam was 74. The 51 students from the class of 2008 of the Medical School at Clínica AlemanaUniversidad del Desarrollo averaged 80.03. The top score of 90.42 was earned by Matías Donoso.
