Once again, Clínica Alemana ranks second among the best hospitals and clinics in Latin America, a fact determined by a study conducted by AméricaEconomía Intelligence. The survey analyzed the health care provided by the most prestigious health institutions in the region in order to determine which of them can become reference points worldwide.
According to the second version of the study -the first one was last year-, which is published in the AméricaEconomía magazine, medical institutions in the region are showing growing interest in taking part in the study and in competing at global level.
This year, the ranking included 35 centers, as compared to 20 last year. However, the first places continue to be awarded to the same institutions. Similarly to 2009, Hospital Albert Einstein de Sao Paulo (Brazil) ranked first, followed by Clínica Alemana de Santiago (Chile).
The article explains that, "these two high-level, high-performance private hospitals stood out in all the categories of the study." Of the 35 institutions included in the ranking, eight have been accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI) -including Clínica Alemana, which received special recognition from the JCI for promoting continuous quality improvement in its prevention & care programs by means of complying with a series of specific standards.
In this regard, Clínica Alemana's Medical Director Claus Krebs stated that, "Of course, we are proud of this achievement. However, we must not forget that our main concern should always be the welfare of our patients. In order to meet this goal, we must implement increasingly complex procedures. Medicine is a field in perpetual evolution and our objective is to stay at the forefront in all areas by constantly upgrading health care, patient safety and training, as well as by acquiring the most recent information and skills and constantly streamlining our technology."
